About me: I'm Rowan Xavier Zurich. Oh come on, that's just a pseudonym, don't worry. I won't place my real name on cyberspace. I am a smart, philosophy-interested boy. I use my blog as a deposit for my thoughts and ideas when I can't fit them in my head. Sometimes, I use it for telling my stories (I'm a writer). Feel free to dawdle mindlessly into my own thoughts! Haha!

TAO: Exactly What I Really Want To Be Doing On the First Minutes of My Birthday
It was 11:59pm, February 27, 2009, when I almost shut down the computer because I was having a bad case of writer's block. Nothing was going in my mind, and my arms are still groaning from the typing I did last Paper Week.

Then, my phone vibrated. It was a message.

It was from one of my best friends, Kay. "Happy birthday, Ryan!" it said. My heart screamed with emotion as my best buddy remembered.

Then, 5 minutes after, my friend Aika texted a long message of reconciliation and greeting me as well. I didn't imagine she would, since we're in a conflict with each other.

That did it.

Writer's block dissipated. Inspiration came to me as I slowly realized the fact.

I'm 16. 16, I tell you.

No more seeing shocked faces when I tell them "I'm only 15." No more feeling younger than everyone else. I'm 16!!!!

Actually, my CCC family already threw me a celebration last Thursday. They put flyers everywhere in the campus (at least the areas where they know I will see them), and when I got to the center, they all sang "Happy Birthday" and presented me with a birthday cake (from Mer-nel's! It's so yummy!).

Still, there's no other day than your birthday.

In celebration of my birthday, I made my own mission statement! I'll share it with you guys next time, 'cause it's in Los Baños, in my dorm.

Ah, blogging. Exactly the thing I want to be doing on the first few minutes of my 16th birthday.

Inspiration!!!
I hate it when the big buzzing bee known as "Writer'sblockaboogle bug" gets in my ear. And on the eve of my birthday too.

30 minutes 'til I turn 16. 30 minutes until I become legal for a student driver's license!

"Can't talk right now. Gotta finish the song. Ooh, fudgie buddies!!"

TF: Me, stupid? Look who's talking...
I've read Jai's post on the insane stuff she does, so I decided to do one, too. Fine, then. Call me copycat. =p

10 epitomes of insanity, coming right up!

1. I tend to speak to myself when I'm alone. Or when I feel alone. I dunno, maybe I feel like I'm my own best friend or something. Or maybe the world is just so noisy that I have to speak my thoughts out loud to hear them. Some of my classmates have gone so far as calling me crazy, but that's my own way of intrapersonal communication, so whaddaryehgonnahdoabboudit?

2. I have never consciously made anyone laugh before. If I make a joke which is funny, I didn't really devised it as a joke. It just is funny. When I realize that what I said was funny, I am usually the last one to stop laughing. I even repeat it sometimes, but it ain't funny the second time.

3. Last Song Syndrome (LSS) is fast-acting and extremely common for me. Whenever I hear a tune for about 3 minutes, I'll end up singing or humming it. The bad part is I can't stop as easily. I cannot stop singing when I get hooked by a tune for more than 30 minutes unless some new tune comes by.

4. Every Valentine's day, I spend at least 10 minutes alone in a corner, crying. It's my form of self-control and it makes me feel happy afterwards. Being the masochist that I am, it's easy to think of a reason to cry. The hard part is to actually make the tears fall off my eyelids. If I don't cry on that day, I get so frustrated that I tend to do reckless and stupid things, such as flirting with a girl with a boyfriend and the like. However, this year, I don't feel the need to do this habit. I'm at peace with the world, and I've got God with me this time.

5. I experiment in food mixtures. I've mixed Coke with milk (it actually tastes good), and chocolate with orange juice. I'm curious as to what other tastes I can uncover.

6. I believe that anything with water cannot hurt me. I always say that "the water is my friend" ever since I was a kid. Thus, I'm okay with walking and singing in the rain, water sports are my forte, and I trust sea travel. I've never been hurt at all.

7. Weird. I can only think of 6....

Anyway, that's it. I'm tired. Sleep would come and drift me to a foreign land in a few minutes. Ciao!

WHFE: Poems in Biology?? Good thing there's HUM1...
WRITERS HAVE FOUR EYES Ep. 1

I've been having really disturbing nightmares these days. Last night, I dreamt that a mutilated eye was all I could see, and it scared the crap out of me. Bloodstained eyes aren't really my fave images.

Anyway, I guess my BioSci professors are trying to revolutionize how we students take exams. In my NASC4 exam, for 10 bonus points, I had to write a love poem for Valentine's Day. It was one of my worst creations ever. And yet...

...my prof gave me a perfect 10 for the poem, totaling my score to 99.5%, making me the third top scorer in the exam.

Freaky, huh?

Well, my NASC5 prof also had a poetry part in his exam, but that one was really compulsory. Luckily, it was supposed to be about environmental problems, not about love. This time, I felt I did better. My poem was rather morbid, gory, and depressing, but that's the point I'm trying to make anyway.

I'll try and post those two poems here next time, when I get my papers back. You can be the judge.
